Single-disc tiller tines should be used in fields with a high amount of stubble. They are less affected by tillage methods and moisture levels. Deep planting is not possible with disc-type tines. Their use is limited in planting small seeds. However, compared to spring-loaded chisel and axe-type tines, it is more difficult to achieve uniform planting depths with these tines. This is because discs jump over obstacles, while spring-loaded axe-type tines push the obstacles sideways. Therefore, single-disc tines may be suitable for use in loamy, heavy, and stony soils. However, the planting depth will not be uniform.
